Oktoberfest 2019

The Annual German-Acadian Coast Historical and Genealogical Society Oktoberfest takes place each October in place of the monthly meeting.  The Oktoberfest dinner begins with a socializing and visiting so members and their guests can mingle with one another.  We will have a silent auction of many genealogical books (many out of print).  Later, the President of the GACHGS will make a few opening comments and a meal is served.  At this time the featured Guest Speaker will make a presentation.  After luncheon, we’ll have a closing presentation and announcement of silent auction winners.

The 2019 Oktoberfest will be held at the Westbank Reception Hall in Vacherie on Saturday, October 19, 2019.  Our guest speakers will be Albert Robichaux, Jr and his topic is “New Information about the Germans Coming to Louisiana and Their Settlement on the German Coast” and Maitland “Spuddy” Faucheux with his topic of “History of German Coast Foods”
